PRIVATE TUTORING

If you have special needs, we can arrange for you to meet with a teacher on a one-to-one basis. Just come into our office and tell us your goals. We will help you plan a program of study that fits both your schedule and the tutor's schedule. We can also provide the materials that you need for your tutoring lessons. Possible needs for private tutoring include:

• preparation for the iBT TOEFL test
• coaching for English pronunciation
• improvement in general English conversation
• training in the fundamentals of English grammar
• coaching and guidance in giving public presentations
• preparation for traveling overseas on assignment
• arranging special educational classes with guided excursion trips
• help in integrating into American society
• formal training in the rules of English writing
• increase in English vocabulary
• practice in better reading skills

PRIVATE TUTORING FEES

• Individual tutored at IEI between 9am-5pm: $60.00/hour (plus costs for any necessary books; minimum of 10 hours).
  -> for each additional student, add $10.00/hour (maximum of 4 students).
  
  
• Individual tutored at IEI after 5pm or anytime on the weekends: $70.00/hour (plus costs for any necessary books; minimum of 10 hours).
  -> for each additional student, add $10.00/hour (maximum of 4 students).
  
  
• Individuals tutored at student's location within 15 miles from IEI: $80.00/hour (plus costs for any necessary books; minimum of 10 hours).
  -> up to 2 additional students can join for an extra $10.00/hour (maximum of 3 students).
  -> for each additional mile beyond the first 15 miles, add $2.00 per mile.
  
  
• Company classes of 1 to 8 students or private tutoring are available at IEI or at the company's facility. Please call IEI for details.

POLICIES REGARDING PRIVATE TUTORING

• If a student wants to cancel any scheduled tutoring session, he/she must speak to either a staff member at the IEI office or the teacher at least 24 hours in advance. After adequate notification has been given, the student will be able to make up the missed session on another day that is convenient to the teacher. Any missed session must be completed within the time frame agreed upon by the student and IEI during registration.
  
  
• If a student fails to give at least a 24 hour notice to cancel any tutoring session, that session will not be made up and will not be refunded unless there is a documented emergency. The student should still call the IEI office or the teacher directly to inform about the cancellation and to discuss the situation.
  
  
• If the tutoring involves more than one student in a group, no refunds or makeup session will be given to any individual who did not attend the session.
  
  
• Only registered students may join a tutoring session. No visitors are allowed.
  
  
• Student cannot make any private arrangements with the IEI teachers for tutoring purposes for a period of six months after completing all assignments with IEI.
  
  
• If any tutoring cannot be completed due to a natural disaster, hazardous conditions, or severe inclement weather, that session will be cancelled by IEI and made up on another date to be determined by the student, the teacher and IEI.
  
  
• Each tutoring session, whether at IEI or at student's location, must be a minimum of 2 hours in duration.
  
  
• All hours paid for by a student must be scheduled in advance. Any changes to an already set schedule are subject to the availability of the teacher.
  
  
• Payment for all scheduled hours must be made in full before the first tutoring session. Student must pay for at least 10 initial hours of tutoring. Afterwards, the student may add additional hours of tutoring.
  
  
• The teacher for each tutoring assignment will be determined by IEI. Requests for a specific teacher should be made during registration. Requests for a change of teacher must be made at least 3 days in advance.
  
  
• Any disputes between student and the teacher must be called to the attention of IEI as soon as possible so the dispute can be worked out.

REFUND POLICIES FOR PRIVATE TUTORING

• Refunds for any tutoring sessions not completed are given only under special circumstances beyond the student's control. Written documentation as to the exact nature of the student's situation must be provided to IEI.
